People Helping People stay connected, discover a sense of community and gain additional skills
Anyone with any ability is welcome to join The Neighbors’ Place Knitting & Sewing Circle – a circle that stitches quilts, clothes, and culture together. We provide the tools and the teachers needed to learn a new skill. The circle is meeting weekly on Wednesdays from 11:00am-1:00pm.
We have public health presentations from the Marathon County Health Department, educational games with United Healthcare and Anthem, food demonstrations with A Step Ahead Club, blood pressure screenings and cooking classes from the UW-Extension office in our waiting room each month! Check our calendar for dates and times!
Volunteer tutors may be available to assist individuals who need help with GED preparation, English literacy, basic math, and other skills such as mending, sewing and knitting.
The Neighbors' Place hosts a computer lab that consists of laptops with Wi-Fi, free printing access, and Rosetta Stone for the English Language. The lab is open to anyone in the community during business hours.
Our organization serves as a Community Center that welcomes people of all ages, ethnicities, religions and backgrounds. Groups, such as the East Towne neighborhood group, are welcome to utilize our building for meetings. We also provide information and referrals for additional community resources to those who need them. If we don’t provide a service you need, we can help you find someone who does!
