Every year people from the community donate their time to The Neighbors’ Place. Whether it’s stocking shelves in the food pantry or teaching English in the Community Learning Center, volunteers have made a huge impact on our organization. Each week The Neighbors’ Place serves over 900 families, and staffed with only eight people, volunteers are essential for our day-to-day operations.
As a small token of our gratitude, The Neighbors’ Place hosted the 2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic last night at the Big Kitchen in Marathon Park. The picnic was a success with beautiful weather, tasty food, and a large turnout representing TNP volunteers. The raffle drawing went as follows:
- Green Bay Packers t-shirt won by a student volunteer
- gift certificate to West Side Tasty Treat won by a Community Learning Center volunteer
- Kwik Trip gift card won by another Community Learning Center volunteer who tutors and drives students to-and-from classes
- Kiwi Trip gift card won by, yet another, Community Learning Center volunteer who knits each Wednesday in the Knitting Circle
Thank you to West Side Tasty Treat, located at 118 South 3rd Street in Wausau, for your gift certificate donation!
And, thank you to Kwik Trip, located at 310 Grand Avenue in Wausau, for both of your generous gift card donations!
“A non-profit is only as strong as it’s volunteers. There is no way we could be able to serve everyone with our staff alone. This is a way for us to say thank you to our volunteers for helping us do what we do,” said Evan Cass, Volunteer & Events Coordinator at The Neighbors’ Place.
