WAUSAU, WI – The Neighbors’ Place (TNP) will be distributing over 1,200 gifts at their location on Scott Street this Friday and Saturday. The recipients include 125 families who have signed up for the Christmas Gift Program starting in October of this year.
The premise of TNP’s Christmas Gift Program is to match a deserving family in need with a sponsoring family or business in the community. Each sponsor purchases gifts for the children based off of each child’s predetermined wish list. Over 400 children will receive Christmas gifts this holiday season through the program. The list of sponsors includes:
- Marshfield Clinic
- Collaborative Consulting
- Trinity Lutheran Church
- Good Shepard Lutheran Church
- Eastside Catholic Parishes
- Kocourek Motors
- Aqua Finance
- Office Enterprises
- customers of River Valley Bank in Weston
- Bone and Joint Clinic
- (11) private sponsoring families
TNP continues to receive wrapped gifts throughout the week, which volunteers organize and prep for distribution. Ranging from individuals in the community to school groups, over 30 volunteers have helped the Christmas Gift Program in the past three weeks. Families who wish to receive gifts this holiday season but missed the Christmas Gift Program signup are welcome to call TNP and request a spot on the waiting list. Working with the generosity of the community, families on the waiting list can potentially still receive gifts before December 25th. TNP is a non-profit community center providing assistance to residents of Marathon County since 1989. The programs are at no cost to the guests and include: Food Bank & Food Pantry, Community Learning Center, Furniture & Basic Needs Bank, Community Outreach and seasonal gardens.
